At Chipmonk Collectables, we want you to be happy with your purchase, which is why we offer a no-quibble refund on any purchase that is returned to us.

But we don't want items returned, and so that is why we are always more than happy to give further details on any item prior to purchase.

When buying second hand items, you want to know what you are getting and so we have developed a rating system for all our books.

Each book is given a Chipmonk Rating of between 1 and 10 and this rating is reflected in the price.

Books rated 10 are in Mint (As new) condition.

To get a rating of 9, the book be in very good overall condition and not must meet at least 5 of the following criteria:

  • Cover is not damaged

  • Spine is complete and undamaged

  • All pages are securely attached

  • There is no writing or scribbling anywhere in the book

  • No pages are ripped

  • Book is not price clipped

To get a rating of 8, the book must generally look in good condition and meet 4 of the above.

Books with a rating of 7 usually have some damage to them although all pages must be present. The usually sort of damage that is acceptable to warrant a 7 is:

  • Cover may have minor scratches / writing

  • Spine may be damaged or missing.

  • Small amounts of writing may exist.

  • Small rips may exist

Books with a rating of 6 are generally in a well used state but all pages are present and attached.

Books with a rating of 5 are generally not in great condition but are complete.

Books with a rating of 4 or lower are generally in poor condition and may have missing pages.

 
 With the best will in the world, occasionally we make mistakes when rating our books and get it wrong.
 

If having received your order, you believe it was rated wrong, let us know along with the reason why, and we may be able to adjust the price and give you a partial refund if you prefer this to retuning the item for a full refund, but the choice is yours. 

 

* Refunds issued do not include postage and packing unless we have specifically incorrectly described the item.
